Beautiful places in the West that you haven’t heard of until now
Kelowna, BC Canada Known as the Napa of British Columbia, Canada. The vibe is laid back with friendly faces so obviously, taste some wine. Be sure to hit up Quail’s Gate, it is beautiful year-round and backs up into the Okanagan Lake. Another winery to check out is Mission Hill Winery with its sprawling grounds beautiful architecture. Now burn those sipping calories off the fun way by hiking, golfing or taking a bike ride along the reclaimed rail line. Finally, one bonus I love while visiting Canada lately is the exchange rate, it's favorable for us here in the states to visit.
Solvang, California Known as the Danish city of California, nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley. I may be biased but I think Scandinavians are some of the nicest and most inviting people who like to keep it real at the same time. Solvang is settled in the middle of many wine regions in central California. It is an hour and a half south of Paso Robles and 45 minutes northwest from the well-known coastal city of Santa Barbara. This location screams beach, hike, architecture and wine. My kind of things.
Taos, New Mexico Known as the far away from the everyday, it is nestled in the New Mexico high desert. There, you will find skiing or hiking available depending on the season you visit in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It has a very creative vibe with some adorable historic adobe buildings and museums influenced by a tapestry of rich culture from Spanish explorers, Native Americans, and American immigrants. You are also right next to the Rio Grande and can see amazing views from the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Hit it up morning or late afternoon for some amazing views and lighting.
Whitefish, Montana Right at the doorstep of stunning Glacier National Park is a resort town within the Rocky Mountain range. It offers skiing, hiking, bike trails, water sports and a super cute downtown for shopping and to refuel those bellies. Take a stop before or after a visit to the national park or just come straight here to enjoy the scenery and food. This is a must visit for the adventure souls out there.
