Brands I’ve discovered while traveling that I am obsessed with
Krewe – New Orleans inspired designer eyewear
I found this gem of a brand while visiting Austin, Texas last Memorial Weekend. They had a pop-up shop inside of a trailer stationed in South Congress neighborhood. South Congress has so many fabulous shops and restaurants to check out while in Austin. The style of glasses is unique and fashion forward. Plus, the quality is like no other! I tend to stick to solid basics, but this brand changed me. I wanted a sassy pair of shades to match my personality. Luckily for me, I found that perfect pair and so did Stephen. Whenever I sport the my cat eye style, I get so many compliments. When I mention they are Krewe, 100% of the time the person has never heard of the brand. So with that, I am not an ambassador for them, but I might as well be.
Before Shinola, I had never bought a watch other than the classic and affordable Fossil brand. Maybe because I never wanted to spend more than $150 on a watch. However, with how much I travel and how much I rely on time (across many time zones) I figured I would give them a try while visiting Detroit, which is where they are headquartered. I had a break between sessions at a conference I was attending and decided to go to their Midtown store to try on some watches. To my surprise, I fell in love with a skinny leather band and slightly larger mother of pearl face. It was a style I hadn’t really seen before. Functional and classic with a twist. Within 40 minutes I was leaving the store with a brand new Shinola watch. 6 months later in San Francisco, Shinola opened their own store and that sold me on a Birthday gift for my boyfriend. It is a brand that has a following because they handmake their watches in the US and don’t overprice themselves. We are very happy Shinola supporters!

While visiting beautiful Victoria on Vancouver Island last summer with my girlfriend, we came across a jewelry store that sold Leah Alexandra jewelry. I had never heard of this brand before, but the saleswomen informed me of it being a local designer based in Vancouver, BC. I am a simple person, so I like the look of her designs. You can wear a piece solo or easily layer it up. The layer look can range from necklaces to rings. She also offers many pieces in gold, white gold, or rose gold. I am a huge fan of rose gold, because it looks good on my skin. I had a hard time deciding which item I wanted to purchase and ended up settling on a pair of rose gold white topaz studs. My girlfriend purchased a beautiful gold moonstone ring. After following her on Instagram post purchase, I loved seeing the new pieces she introduced and have since added a gold moonstone ring to my Leah Alexandra collection.

We were eating a magnificent French style dinner in Fes, Morocco when I came across Anajam Home collection. The tablecloth and napkins at the restaurant we were at felt so soft, had a simple design, and I couldn’t wait to figure out how to purchase a set of napkins to take home. Following dinner, I immediately used Google to help lead me to a store that would carry her beautiful textiles. I ended up finding out that they were on display at the store within El Fenn which is a Riad in the medina of Marrakech. We were going to be there in a few days. Before departing Morocco and our wonderful stay at El Fenn, I picked up a set of napkins to take home from Anajam Home. She is now coming out with a new bath collection… so I am pretty sure we may be swapping out our bath towels in the near future.
One thing I enjoy while traveling is shopping and finding these beautiful designs by local designers. Please comment below with your favorite brands you have discovered around the world.
